Friends Advice about College.?

My friend was telling me that the college I go to doesn't really matter. He said that the only thing that matters is grad school. He said i can go to a poor cheap college and just transfer later to a good school. Is this true? Any info is great, thanks.Friends Advice about College.?
This really depends on what you want to do, in fact many people will tell you where you do your master's degree isn't important so long as where you do your Ph.D is excellent.

It depends mostly on the highest level of education you personally plan on achieving, but keep in mind getting admitted to a ';really good school'; for a Master's degree or a Ph.D an A at one school doesn't mean the same as an A at another... just like high school applicants looking at colleges.

Ultimately, if you do well at a ';poor cheap college'; and take the right classes and opportunities, you will be able to get into a Master's program at a less cheap less poor university- and probably even a not cheap, not poor university- do keep in mind, however, that for Master's degrees, unless you have an assistantship, you will be paying out of pocket. However, in most cases, unless it's a professional degree you won't have to pay for your Doctoral level education.

Point is: It never hurts to go to a midrange college if you can -so that you do have opportunities straight out of school, rather than having to rely on getting a higher degree. Ultimately, that will take some time. Also remember some ';poor cheap'; colleges have GREAT regional reputations for certain programs, and that can be important to look at too.Friends Advice about College.?
Yes and no. College does matter, its what qualifies you for a job in the real world. Grad school is optional for people, many dont go, some do. More these days are going.

If you're worried about the cost of college, it isnt a bad idea to look up Community College options around your area. Pasadena City College is ranked 2nd in Southern California for transfer schools, and Santa Monica City College is ranked number 1. These schools could help you get into a college that you really want to go to, but couldn't get into coming out of senior year.

In fact, its a smart idea to do that. Just don't waste the first 4 years of your college education, because it really is valuable. Who knows, you might find out that you want to be a mechanic, and there isnt a grad school for that, but you want to open your own business. And there's a business program for almost every undergraduate program.

Do you see how undergrad really is very important?

At the end of the day, the certification you recieve (Bachelors, Masters, PHD) is just a piece of paper. What you need to be more concerned about is the knowledge you retain, the social skills you posess, and the right attitude it takes to make that piece of paper worth the thousands you spent on your education.

Hope it helped. Undergrade counts, dont listen to your friend. If you want to go to a cheaper school and just transfer, thats a great too.
