Advice about joining the Army.?

I'm going to join the Army reserves. I';m in 11th gade and i have an oppotunity to do basic training this summer. My mother said to do it next summer when i graduate. She dosn't beleive i am mentally aware of the challenges i will face. All i want to do is make her proud and me happy at the same time. I really would like to do it this summer. Any advice???Advice about joining the Army.?
After you research it, then decide. Go for it. Either way, you will still be serving and at home near moms. You will more aware than you think and the rest, well the Drills will introduce you to it lol.Advice about joining the Army.?
As a member of the national guard my advise to you would be to wait and use this summer to prepare for basic training. preparation is everything in basic training. also pick a job that will help you find civilian employment like 63b mechanic or 21r electrician.
there are a few options you have available to you. you can enlist in the summer and depending on your mos you can ship to bct the summer before your senior year and then go to your ait after you graduate high school. this is called split option. there is one kid that i know that went that route. the other option is to dep-in (dep = delayed entry program) and you will be a ';future soldier.'; you will go to training once a week. the training is mostly pt but you will also learn some drill and ceremony, military time, ranks, phonetic alphabet, etc... after you graduate you will then ship to bct and then go to ait right after that. most of the high-schoolers that go to the fs training went this route. i would recommend trying the future soldier's thing and dep in rather than going the split option route. enjoy your summer with your friends and family. you are only young once, lol. trust me, i am old now ;) enjoy it while it lasts just don't get in trouble. your mom will be proud of you no matter what, but don't rush into anything. if this is what you want to do then go for it, just make sure you are making an educated decision. have your parents come in and talk to your recruiter with you. consider both options and make a list of the positives and negatives of both with your parents.

hooah, and good luck!
If you can do it this summer and you think you are ready, then do it. That way you might actually be able to make some money doing reserve drilling and get some more learning in during your senior year. Then, after graduation, you can go to your Army schools without having to go through boot camp first. And you won't look like a boot when you hit your schools after graduation.
dont join
Don't join...

Go marines if you're a tough guy, or go navy if you're a smart guy.
